St. Patty's Day 2011

I'm not sure how it has evolved into something that we celebrate, but it sure has! My kids LOVE St. Patrick's Day! While the boys were at school, a leprechaun trashed their bedroom. Crepe paper was everywhere, and green candies were thrown all around the bedroom floor.

After school, the kids set up a leprechaun trap. They found an old shoe box, carefully set some change inside, with the hopes of luring the leprechaun close enough to trap him. Rumor has it that if you catch a leprechaun, you get all of his gold. Our leprechaun was a little mean with his tricks this year. He dumped a white powder around the front porch, took their money, and drizzled a gooey blue liquid all over their trap. It made for a very fun afternoon.

We finished our day off with Mint Chocolate Brownies. They were Heavenly!

The 4th

What a weekend! First we had Chad's family reunion in Bountiful on Saturday. After the reunion, we met up with our friends, the Butlers and the Martinez's, for our favorite firework show in Riverton. Sunday, the 4th, Ken and Becky drove out with reunion left-overs and fed us dinner. Then the neighborhood gathered, as we usually do, for a firework show. It was my favorite kind of weekend! We enjoyed quality time as a family, with family and friends, and kept really busy with all sorts of fun stuff.

My baby is adorable! Have you ever seen anything so cute?

Here are Ken and Becky with their grandson's and Hallie, our neighbor... Not to confuse future generations, although I would take her if her mom would let me. She'd fit right in!

Our super fun neighbors, the Richharts

Grandpa Ken and Cohen

Chad the Firework Master

Neighbor Girls

I'll probably get in trouble for posting this picture, but I don't care. These people are the reason that we love our neighborhood so much. The world should know that they are the BEST NEIGHBORS EVER!

Love him :)

Brownie face!

Sparklers!

Nixin loved them.

And so did Grandpa Ken and I!

We hope your 4th was a great one. Ours sure was!

Green

It was about a week before St. Patrick's Day when my boys started to remind me that "Next Wednesday we need to wear green so we don't get pinched". They had planned out exactly what they would wear on the big day and made big plans to catch leprechauns. We had a couple of friends come over to play after school and I looked outside just in time to see the five of them "dancing a jig"!

Cohen was super sick! Look at his sweet little snot face, so lovable!

Aunt Laura came over and helped the boys with their leprechaun trap. They almost caught one! Unfortunately he must have heard them open the front door and ran off before they could catch him. The good news was that some of his dollar bills fell out and landed right in their trap! They thought that part was awesome.

I made Green Fettuccine Alfredo for our special dinner, because I thought that the kids would think it was cool. They did not think it was cool and complained the whole meal instead. We finished our day up with a trip to parent teacher conference for Jack. He is doing great! He had all 4's (that's a great thing) and is reading at a level K. Happy (late) St. Patrick's Day!

Easter 2009

The boys woke up so excited. They knew that the Easter Bunny had been here. The carrots that they had left out were only crumbs now. But where could he have hidden the Easter baskets?

On to the egg hunt. We have a couple of good hunters on our hands. They found all but 2 of the eggs (I know that because I found them myself this afternoon!) and had a lot of fun doing so.

Do you think we have enough candy filled eggs at our house? They should last us a while!

The boys baskets were filled with art supplies. Immediately following the big hunt, it was very important to play with their new goodies. One thing that the boys found in their baskets was molding clay. Nixin wanted to play with that first. He opened it up, squished it around for all of 2 seconds and he said "This stuff really stinks!" and he started dry heaving. It was so funny but it may not ever get played with at our house again. The Easter Bunny knows for next time.

Everyone was hungry after all of the excitement, so we decided to make pancakes, bunny pancakes.

Following breakfast, we all got ready for church. It was at this time that I put away the camera and forgot to get it out again for the rest of the day. I wish I would have gotten pictures of the boys in their handsome church clothes, or of my family (Grandpa Bob, Patsy, Luke, Lindsey, and Chris) eating Easter dinner together. But I didn't. I should have also gotten pictures of the boys blowing bubbles or playing soccer in the back yard with uncle Luke or of our funny dog going down the playground slide all by herself and getting so excited. We had a lot of fun this Easter and made some good memories.

Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs

At our house nobody cares for hard boiled eggs. We have made them in years past and they just go to waste. So, this year we went with a little bit different Easter Egg. I whipped up a batch of Rice Krispie Treats (using caramel vanilla flavored marshmallows) and we used plastic eggs to mold the treats into egg shapes. Then we dipped them in chocolate and decorated them. I loved doing this with my boys and the eggs were really yummy!

Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas! We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday. Ours was filled with lots of company, lots of food and lots of fun. We had an awesome Christmas. Thank you to all of our family and friends who made this season special for us. We are lucky to have you! Here is a slide show of our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day pictures:

This was an especially exciting year for Jack. We spend Christmas Eve with Chads parents in Bountiful. Jack was asking when we got to go home (which is a first) because he knew that he needed to get to sleep in order for Santa to come. When we finally got home, he was bouncing off of the walls with excitement. He crawled into bed and with a huge smile he said "I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight!" Well, with a little help from the red medicine both of my boys fell fast asleep.

In the morning I could hear Jack's little feet climbing down the ladder of his bunk bed, his bedroom door slowly open, his door close, and then his feet climbing up the ladder. This happened three times in a very short period of time. Finally Chad went and got him. He was so excited! He could not sit still. Nixin, on the other hand, had to be shaken out of his deep sleep. It was sure fun to see Jack so into Christmas. Here is the video of the kids when they came into the front room on Christmas Morning:
